Respect

Living in the Now Newsletter
July 27, 2024

We may notice respect more frequently by its absence, i.e., in instances of disrespect.

Disrespect is to deny that one has the right to make their own decisions, to choose their own path, free from interference, to make their own mistakes and gain from this.
Respect is not to be confused with allowing others to be disrespectful to the point of impairing the life or well-being of another.

Respect is allowing self and others the exercise of sovereignty and free expression. It is allowing self and others to live free of judgment and second guessing. It is the recognizing that each of us is worthy of our own thoughts and ideas, of the fruits of our labors and endeavors.

Self respect allows us to be all that we can be, to reach heights we may not even consider possible, by not placing limits on our expectations. This does not mean we ignore the physical limits of our body. It does mean we test these limits to see if what we have been told is accurate.
Respect is allowing self and others to test our abilities to try new ways without unproven words and thoughts of discouragement and predictions of failure.

Respect is an attitude. It is a feeling. It is an expectation. It is based on knowing we are each spirit beings manifesting in physical vessels. It is recognizing that every human has the ability and the right to know and to choose. It is based in knowing that all life has the right to live unhampered in their normal activities.

Respect honors the life of every being. Disrespect is any attempt to interfere with another without their permission. This may include doing something positive, such as sending healing energy without it being requested and/or approved.

Respect honors the choices of another: their purpose, goals, intentions and life plan. Disrespect attempts to impose our idea of what another should do.

        Respect recognizes truth.

Respect does not eliminate criticism. It dictates that actions are criticized not persons.

Respect acknowledges that we are light beings* with the choice of increasing or decreasing our light in matter.

Respect allows the discussion of how we exist and function, as well as our ultimate goals and purposes. It does not permit the overriding of our choices by another or the imposition of same.

Respect is an act of love.

        Some additional thoughts:
Thoughts are things. As stated elsewhere, our thoughts and energy affect all around us.
Do not presume. We may see an aspect of another that they do not. Respect does not seek to enlighten them without questioning whether this is a time to do so.

        Our choice.

*We recognize that some choose to decrease their light. This is not being addressed here.
