Overcoming Blocks

        There are many things which can interfere with living life to the fullest. They block our growth, enjoying our experiences and using our intuition most efficiently, etc.

        One such is fear. Fear reduces energy levels. Say "NO" to fear. Replace fear with love. Love banishes fear.

        Another is expectations. Expecting to fail almost guarantees it. Believe we can succeed and we do.

        A less commonly recognized factor is holding on to past feelings, emotions associated with events which have already happened. Holding onto the past prevents us from enjoying today. Now. It may even lead to short term memory loss if we focus continuously on the past. It is good to get into a practice of taking a good look at the emotions we have experienced each day, thanking them, and then releasing them. It is good to let go of emotions even if we haven't finished with them. We can always re-experience them in the future as desired or the need is felt.

        A common emotion is grief. We mourn the absence of one we care about. This is normal. We remain forever connected to one whose company we have enjoyed, or even one we have spent time with maybe not enjoying it very much. When they leave, there is a hole in our life. We can partially fill this by remembering, with gratitude, the good times we have had together. However, we must take the steps to occupy our selves with other enjoyable thoughts and activities the rest of the day.

        Sometimes, what we are remembering is not so good. We can mitigate this by limiting when and for how long we will think about these things each day. Be firm about controlling thoughts. Enlist the help of others if necessary. We can retrain our selves.

        The best way to control what we think and feel is to replace thoughts and/or feelings with ones which raise our energy levels such as uplifting music, something which makes us laugh, being with nature, etc. We can make daily schedules for ourself until we are feeling better, much like we do with a physical illness. And for the same reasons.

        We need to recover our equilibrium, to regain our strength, to repair our spirit, to raise our energy levels, to love our selves. Let go of judgment, other people's rules, what we used to do. Be gentle with self and others.
